Lazy Day

I don’t think I did anything creative today, unless you count helping a friend fix her computer over the phone.

Silent Treatment

Yesterday’s sour mood produced a new poem, “Silent Treatment.” This evening, I went to a jam at Hiccups with Brad the Drummer and played a few songs with him and the house band. Brad got some comments on his excellent drumming, and a few people said I did a good job, as well. Next time, I’m taking my own amp, though. I didn’t feel comfortable messing with the rig that I was using, so my Strat sounded thin and too quiet.

Sour mood

Today was a relaxing day, but my mood is pretty sour. I’ve been snapping at my wife and son and heaping guilt on myself for playing Morrowind instead of getting some writing done. By the end of the day, I hope to get my review of The Legend That Was Earth written, and perhaps review Rush’s new album, Vapor Trails. I also want to put together a CD of the cover tunes that Flat Rabbit plays to use as a practice CD. If I add to this entry, that means that I got some or all of that done. If I don’t add to it, put your fingers in the shape of an “L” on your forehead and call me a complete loser.

(Later that evening …) Okay, you don’t have to call me a complete loser. I did finish the review of The Legend That Was Earth. (I know, I know, “that” and “was” technically shouldn’t be capitalized in that title. I chose to capitalize them anyway because it’s a pretentious enough title that those words feel like they need to be capitalized.) It’s fairly late now, though, so I won’t get the Rush review or the CD put together. I guess that just makes me a partial loser, rather than a complete loser. 😉

Best of the day

Again, I didn’t do a lot today that was creative. I did go to see Dot Com play, and enjoyed the show, but left early because I felt under the weather. I did spend some time playing Morrowind, and it is as addicting as I feared it would be. The best part of the day was a graduation party for the children of one of my wife’s co-workers. The kids are triplets, and their father (a single parent) pulled out all the stops for their party. It was a great success. I wish them all the best the world has to offer, and as little of the worst as possible.
